Sandblasting, rubbing compounds and direct polishing abrasives made from recycled glass are 99.9% free from contamination. The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) reports recycled glass abrasives contain no free silica and therefore offer no risk of silicosis. In addition to a moll hardness of 5.5-6, recycled glass sands and powders have sharper, more angular particle shapes, zero perosity and are 10-15% lighter than conventional sand.
